"Can My Lipstick Give Me Cancer?"

Hello everyone!

Okay so from reading the title I'm sure you're a little confused, but once I start explaining you'll get the jist of it. So I was getting ready yesterday for school when my mom came into my room and gave me some pretty crazy news... Apparently there are a lot of lipsticks out there that contain lead, pretty much most of them do. Now you might be thinking "so what?" right? Well lead is a chemical that causes cancer, affect your Nervous System, it can damage your brain and kidneys, and can ultimately cause death, so therefore if it's in your lipstick that's probably not a good sign.
Lead is used on lipsticks so the lipstick will stay longer, so watch out for those lipsticks that are supposed to last for a longer period of time!

Now before we all go crazy and stop using lipsticks I must tell you that I did my research on this before writing about it, and from what I read, this is an issue thats has been going on for a while. Apparently the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics tested 33 popular brand lipsticks for lead content, and 61% had lead ranging on different levels. They used your normal every day brands, along with high end brands and most of them contained it. Later on the FDA (Food And Drug Association) tested the lipsticks and all of the 20 lipsticks they tested had at least some lead in them. They said that the level of lead in them was expected and harmless.

So are we safe or should we be worried? Well in my opinion you can never be too safe, and by this is mean that you should from now on take second look at the lipsticks you buy. Check their ingredients and if they have a lot of lead or if it's one of the main ingredients I would probably recommend looking for a better alternative. Now if they normal or small amounts of lead in them they're probably not very harmful or might not be at all, as long as you don't like....eat it...(lol) so you can continue to use it, I mean I'll probably keep using mine. If I've scared you silly and now you never wanna use lipsticks again I first must apologize, but I also have good news for you! You can also buy lead-free lipsticks such as these (click here to look at the lead-free lipsticks). As for the lipsticks you already own, there is a way to test them.
All you do is:
  • Apply some lipstick on your hand.
  • Use a 24k-14k Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
  • If the lipstick color changes to black, then you know the lipstick contains some lead.
I just wanted to share with you guys this interesting information I stumbled upon today. I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it didn't scare you too much!
Just be careful next time you buy a lipstick ladies!

Thank you for reading, and come back for more :)

My Guilty Pleasure - Vinyl Record Player

Hello everyone!

So retro stuff and vintage stuff have always interested me, like seriously if I could choose to live in any time period it would probably be the 60's or 80's. I just find that eras so fascinating and also so incredibly creative, and sooo free!
I recently wanted to re-decorate my room, and I wanted to make it into a classy, vintage-y, retro style kinda thing. So I have been looking for small shops and antique stores in surrounding cities and I found a couple of stuff, but I was specifically looking for a vinyl record player for my room. I couldn't find it anywhere! I mean I saw it at Urban Outfitters, but....I find Urban a little too pricey on the electronics. I looked online and most of them were over $200. I mean I saw cheaper ones but they were either used and/or damaged, or they were just little simple boring ones, which theres nothing wrong with that but I wanted a vintage looking one. I had seriously just given up on it.
At the beginning of December my parents had told my sister and I that they wanted to get us a present because they saw how much we busted our little bootys this past semester at University (they were feeling giving, I mean it was December, everyone was feeling giving!), and we left it at that.
About a week later my mom and I were at Bed Bath & Beyond, just cruising the store looking through the isles when suddenly I see it. No joke, it was the most amazing vinyl record player, it was shinning like a star on a dark winter night. SO obviously I had to get it. It was a tad over what they were planning to spend on the little surprise but I begged and begged AND BEGGED! I mean I had just been looking for it for years!! So after many hours of convincing they got it for me!!!!!

This record player is one of the best one's I've ever seen! It was just love at first sight! lol But seriously, it is so beautiful and so elegant. It has wonderful features that not many of the have. Such as, vinyl record player (obviously) for 7, 10 and 12 in. records at the top, so if you can play any kind of vinyl there is! It also has a CD player slot on the front, so you can still jam out to your CD jammms. It has a cassette player slot on the side, so if you wanna keep the (semi) retro theme and slide in some of your old cassettes that you happen to find you still can. It also has an Aux-in cable so you can connect it to your iPhone or iPod or any MP3!! How awesome is that! It has AM/FM radio, and that's at the front as well and it looks soooo cool!!! and it also has the feature that if you want to record your vinyls into a CD or a cassette you very easily can!

The speakers are AMAZING! They are huge for starters, they are located on the front on both sides. The sound just comes out so clean, especially with he vinyls. You can turn it up real loud, and the quality of the sound doesn't change. It also comes with a remote control, so if you're either laying down or getting ready and you really don't feel like listening to that certain song you can just do the lazy thing that we all wanna do and change it without having to move :)
So you get the old, the not so old, and the new all in one machine! That's a awesome deal to me!
I have had it for about 2 months now and I am so incredibly happy with it! I'm always showing it off...hehe. It really made my room so complete, it kinda adds character to it. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

So I just wanted to share with you guys my little guilty pleasure, what is yours? :)

7 Favorite Beauty Products Of January

Hello everyone!
So as this beautiful month is coming to an end I decided to share with you guys my favorite beauty products of this month!

1.) Neutrogena Triple Moisture: Deep Recovery Hair Mask

This deep conditioner is AMAZING!! Every time I use this is leaves my hair amazingly smooth, and shiny, and overall healthy!
All you have to do is after you shampoo your hair just get a small portion on your hair and apply to your hair instead of your conditioner, you leave it on or about 5-7 minutes you take it off! Honestly you can just feel the softness in your hair! It's amazing & I can honestly tell a big difference on my split ends, bc since I'm trying to let my hair grow out my split ends were out of control but after using this I can see a difference on them. NOW I must say that this product is quite strong so if your hair is pretty damaged or colored or whatever then use it once a week or if you feel that you might need it more than that then maybe twice, but if you just want some extra shine and your hair is not quite that damaged then I strongly recommend only using it maybe either once every week and a half or even two weeks!
I got this product at Nordstrom Rack and it was only around $5.99, but I found this website where you  can get it, but if that doesn't work for you let me know and I can see where else you can get it.

2.) Tigi S-Factor Smoothing Lusterizer: Defrizzer & Tamer

This product is another one that I strongly recommend if you have problems with your hair being crazy frizzy and staticy. This product have just honestly blown me away! I was reading one of Zoe Sugg's (or Zoella) older blog post and she said that she loved this product and I am a big fan of her hair so I decided to get it online and I am highly pleased with it. Again, since I'm trying to grow my hair out I haven't been cutting it, so my split ends were getting out of control and this has also helped me soooo much! AND it also has like a small amount of glitter to it, so you might notice it on your hands when you put it on, but you can't really see it on your hair THAT much, but when your in the sunlight or when you take a picture your hair will just have this unbelievable shine to it, I can guarantee that anyone that tries this will love it.
All you do is after you shower with your normal hair routine you can apply it to damp hair, not a big portion though because you don't want to have too much product in your hair and then it get greasy faster, but just put it all over your hair. I recommend that your main focus be the ends, and after that style as usual and then you're set! You will actually see an instant change when it dries, AND you can even apply it to dry hair if you feel that you didn't get enough or you want some extra shine!
I got it on this website called: Feel Unique, and when I got it was about $15 because it was the holiday season and now it's $24.59, which to be honest for the quality of the product that you're getting is not bad at all!
